Crash takes entire family. Father dies instantly - Mother and child expire later.
Boise, Dec 10 - AP - The Guy Powell family of Buhl, Idaho, was wiped out as the result of an accident late Saturday when an east-bound train crashed into the truck Powell was driving at a crossing near Filer.
Guy Powell was killed instantly, Mrs. Powell died Sunday morning at a Twin Falls hospital and Powell's 5-year-old step-daughter, Catherine Andreen succumbed Saturday night in a Twin Falls hospital three hours after the accident.
According to witnesses of the tragedy, Powell was driving toward Filer to do some Christmas shopping and failed to see the train. His view was obstructed by houses near the crossing. Powell slid the wheels of his car but was traveling too fast to prevent an accident. The truck was demolished and the passengers hurled through the air by the impact.
