Winsdor Clenton Adams Sr. died peacefully, surrounded by his family, in the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center January 1, 2015, in Salem at the age of 89. Winsdor was born June 13, 1925, in Bluestone, W.Va. A veteran of World War II, he was wounded in action in Germany in 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. A longtime resident of Winfield, W.Va., he was an active and dedicated member of St. John United Methodist Church in Scott Depot, W.Va. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Winsdor is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hannah Rose Adams, of Roanoke; son, W.C. Adams Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kelly Adams, of Vinton; daughter, Laura Jeanette Eggleton; son-in-law, James Eggleton, of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Kim Shirkey, of Scott Depot, W.Va., Aaron Johnson and wife, Bonnie, of Austin, Texas, and Lindsey and husband, J.R. Collins, of Scott Depot, W.Va.; and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Katelyn, Aspen, Sydeny, Cameron, Chandler and Tripp. He is preceded in death by his parents, O'Dell Vaughn Adams and Laura Tabitha (Martin) Adams, of Bluestone, W.Va. A service is scheduled for noon Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. John United Methodist Church in Scott Depot, W.Va. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning 10 a.m. The Rev. Martin Hallett will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Winsdor's life. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va., at approximately 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John United Methodist Church, 4013 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, WV 25560.
