PRINCETON--Joy Lea Skelton, 62, of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, formerly of Princeton, died after a year-long battle with cancer on November 26, 2000.
She was a graduate of Princeton High School and an associate member of Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton. She was an owner of the former Skelton TV in Princeton. She attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Ala. in preparation for what became 20 years of missionary service, the past 16 with Awana Youth Association.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, John; a son, David of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Stuart Soderquist of Bellingham, Wash.; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Faye Mayhall of Franklin, Ky.; grandchildren, Mariah and Michael Skelton of Indiana and Darby, Brady and Reagan Soderquist of Washington; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on December 9 at Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton. Burial was at Greenacres Memorial Park in Bellingham.
At the family's request, memorials may be made to the "Joy Skelton Memorial Fund for Awana Scholarship Camp." Woodlawn Funeral Home of Abbotsford, B.C. is in charge of arrangements.
