Mr. West retired in 1976 from Pay Less Supermarket at Tippecanoe Mall, where he was a receiving clerk. He had previously worked at Purdue University, and while living in Waynetown had worked at Waynetown Mineral Plant. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are two sons, Gleyre Allen West of Lebanon and David Martin West of Darlington; a daughter, Tammy McNelis of New Haven; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Hutchison, Mrs. Maxine Welliver, both of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Mary Lewellen of Waynetown; four brothers, Max West, Gerald West, both of Crawfordsville, Don West of Rosedale, and Oscar West of Veedersburg; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Six brothers and one sister preceded in death.
