102 Squadron's Handley Page Halifax II (#DT747) bomber aircraft, with an aircrew of eight, took off from RAF Pocklington for a night air operation over Stettin in Germany. It is thought that DT747 was shot down by ground flak, crashing near the Danish village of Hjertingvej and taking the lives of the entire crew.
