Denise Demers passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth on December 19, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Adelard A. Demers and was a resident of New England Village, Pembroke for the last four years.

Denise was a graduate of Nazareth Hall School and was employed at People Incorporated for many years. She was an active participant in the Special Olympics and was a member of the Nazareth Bowling Team. A lifetime member of Baker's Beach Club, she enjoyed her summers there. Denise enjoyed traveling with her family throughout New England, California, and Florida. She enjoyed needlepoint and created many pieces for her family over the years.

She was a communicant of both St. John the Baptist and Holy Family Church.

She is survived by her two sisters, Marguerite Sheahan of Westport and Suzanne Widdowson of Los Gatos, California, niece Kate Widdowson, nephews Daniel P. Sheahan, Jonathan Widdowson, and Christopher and Alex Noble.

The family acknowledges the kindness and caring of the staff at New England Village and is profoundly grateful for their support. It is because of the existence of this wonderful facility that Denise was able to enjoy the happiness and independence that she deserved.

A Mass of Christian burial for Denise will be held on Monday, December 22, at 9 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Main Road, Westport, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Hathaway Home for Funerals,1813 Robeson Street, Fall River.
