FUNERAL FOR SELMA L. KENNEDY

Selma L. Kennedy, 78, 1102 S. Eighth St., died at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at Nelson Nursing Home, in Fairfield, Ia..
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Sue McCrachen officiating. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery. Family visitation will 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given been to Glasgow Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Kennedy was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Mt Pleasant, Ia., the daughter of James Owen “J.O.” and Gladys Jackson Pickard. She married Earl “Shorty” Kennedy on Jan. 6, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Feb. 10, 1992.
Mrs. Kennedy lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She graduated from Mt Pleasant High School, Mt Pleasant, Ia. In 1939. She was a farm homemaker, bookkeeper, and assisted her husband on the farm in Glasgow area in the Cedar and Wooster townships.
She was affiliated with the First Methodist Church, Philathea Class and the Ebenezer Society in Wooster and Cedar Townships.
Survivors include; three daughters, Karen Smith of rural Davenport, Ia., Cheryl Wenthe of Hawkeye, Ia., ans Pam Elmore of Fairfield, Ia.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lena Mae Hallowell of Mt Pleasant, Ia., Ethel Ranch of New London, Ia., and Roberta Fraise of Danville, Ia.; and one brother, Cecil Pickard of Victorville, Calif.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Milton, Dale and Dewaine Pickard; and one sister Wilma.
