ATTLEBORO – Richard “Duke” Austin Cooper, 63, of Attleboro passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro following a brief illness.

Born July 17, 1951 in Attleboro, MA he was a son of Frederick Cooper of North Attleboro and the late Mildred (Metthe) Cooper.

Duke was a 1969 graduate of North Attleboro High School and a longtime resident of Attleboro. He was U.S. Army veteran. Duke worked as an auto mechanic. He was a trusted house sitter and pet sitter for many of his friends and he loved motorcycles.

In addition to his father, Duke is survived by his sister Deborah and her husband Paul Cavanagh of Attleboro; his niece, Patricia and her husband Jeffery Bratberg of Attleboro; his nephew, James Cavanagh of Providence; many cousins; and his friends from Sanborn’s Garage.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, immediately followed by a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, North Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community VNA Hospice, 10 Emory St, Attleboro, MA 02703.
