Marian Jean (Bryson) McGowen, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ with Virgil Trout, minister, and Ron Benedict, minister, officiating. Interment to follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore.

Marian was born on Nov. 9, 1951, to Howard A. Bryson Sr. and Ruby "Jean" (Pauley) Crownover Bryson at Gainesville, Texas. She attended and graduated from Dickson High School in the class of 1970. She then went on to attend Murray State College in Tishomingo. Marian married her loving husband, Michael Ray McGowen, on April 9, 1971, at Ardmore. When Marian was younger, she enjoyed playing softball and bowling. She was the co-owner of R&R Trophy for 10 years. She was an avid genealogist. She belonged to many lineage societies including, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Daughters of Mexican War Veterans, Texas First Families, Daughters of Union War Veterans of the Civil War, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard A. Bryson Sr. and Ruby "Jean" (Pauley) Crownover Bryson; her twin sister, Sharon Elaine (Bryson) Daniels; and her brother, Howard A. Bryson Jr.

Marian is survived by her husband, Michael Ray McGowen; daughter, Marla Rae (McGowen) Bleakley; son-in-law, Steve R. Bleakley; son, Michael James McGowen; granddaughter, Riley Hunter Bleakley; and grandson, Chase Drew Bleakley; and sister Barbara Jean Roberts. Also survived by special friends, Sue (Welch) Petty, JoAnn Smithers and Gary Don Scott.

Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Butler, Jim Thornton, Gary Don Scott, Scott Daniels, Austin Melendez and Larry Vinson.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday evening, Dec. 5, 2014, at Griffin~Hillcrest in Ardmore.
