Funeral service for Sue Cox Canterbury of Cordele will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Cordele First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services. Mrs. Canterbury, 89, died Tuesday at Crisp Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Cox and her twin brother, James Cox. She was born in Duvall County, FL and was the daughter of the late James Hadley Cox and Mae Roberst Cox. She raised five children on her own while working for 42 years at Crisp County Hospital. She was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church for 77 years and treasurer of her Sunday School Class for 50 years. Mrs. Canterbury is survived by her children, two daughters, Kathy Barnes of Douglasville and Susan and William Cross of Unadilla and three sons, Raymond and Debbie Canterbury of Ashburn, Elliott and Carol Canterbury of Cordele and Ricky Canterbury of Pineview; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Lee Canterbury of Warner Robins, Seth and Rebekah Canterbury of Ecuador, Rachael and Ken Sealy of Alabama, Allison Lingenfelter of Atlanta, Joshua Canterbury of Tifton, and Brandon Canterbury of Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, Jake, Will and Cal Canterbury, Wyatt Canterbury and Hadley Lingenfelter.
