John J. Wurz, 67 of Sylvania Township passed away Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at The Toledo Hospital, after a valiant battle with heart disease and diabetes until going home to be with his Lord and Saviour. John was a young brick mason from Minnesota when hired by Ralph Girkens with New York Life in 1957. He was with the company for more than 40 years. During his tenure, John received many accolades and personally recruited and helped other agents. He led the Toledo office in sales and premiums many times and was among the top five percent in the nation. John was a Life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table, past president of the Toledo Association of Life Underwriters, and most recently achieved Top of the Table Designation. He received his Charter Life Underwriters degree at the University of Toledo. He was a life member of the National Quality Award and the New York Life's Chairman's Council. Three years ago John became associated with Smith, Smith and Wurz and Walnut Street Securities, and continued to conscientiously serve his many clients.

John was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and husband and will be deeply missed. His constant faith in his Lord and Savior has been an encouragement to all who knew him.
