His family emigrated to America from Norway,coming to Nebraska when he was small.
He married Bonnie Grace Maxwell on August 7,1917,in Hot Springs S.D.,daughter of Isaac Arthur Maxwell and Amanda Saunders.Bonnie was born in 1895-96 in Oklahoma,and died October 20,1946 in Gordon,Nebraska.John and Bonnie had eight children.
He was preceeded in death by his parents;his wife Bonnie and his son Robert;his brother Oscar;his half brother Fred Tuchenhagen;and his half sister Minna Fairhead;and his step father Karl Tuchenhagen.
Services were held Nov. 23 1959 in the Gordon Presyterian church,burial was in the Gordon cemetery.
