In 1858, John Abbott was the licensee and Matilda the landlady of the Lamb Inn, just out of Yan Yean, Victoria.

Funeral Notice in The Argus of Oct. 28, 1891: ABBOTT -The friends of the late Mrs MATILDA ABBOTT, relict of the late John Abbott, are most respectfully invited to follow her remains to the place of interment in the Whittlesea Cemetery. The funeral is appointed to leave her late residence Morang, THIS DAY (Wednesday, October 28), at 2 o'clock.

Death Notice in The Age of Nov. 3, 1891: Abbott. —On the 26th October, at her late residence, Morang, Matilda Abbott, relict of the late John Abbott, aged 79 years.
