Saint. Saint Bernardino of Siena ( Bernardino degli Albizzeschi ), was the founder of the Society of the Disciplined , dedicated to the rescue of those in need . He studied theology and law , and in 1402 at twenty-two he entered the order of Franciscans and soon became vicar of Tuscany, Fiesole (Florence). In 1417 he began his preaching in Genoa (Liguria ), getting a resounding success that convinced him to expand his business throughout northern Italy . The saint brought peace to the city in dispute , reconciling families and factions , causing conversions glaring and huge crowds went to hear him . From 1430 he devoted himself to the composition of theological treatises .
Appointed vicar general of his order, was commissioned by the secular authorities of important diplomatic missions. Then he resumed his apostolic journeys but died from the strain crashed near L' Aquila. Many miracles occurred around her body exposed for three days. The saint is a Doctor of the Church and was canonized in 1450 by Pope Nicholas V. His body is kept in L'Aquila, in the church dedicated to him.
