Jane Bomgardner Allison(1953 - 2014)
1953 - 2014
Our beloved Jane returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 27th following a valiant battle with cancer.
Jane was born in Evanston Illinois but spent most of her younger years in Boulder, moving there when she was nine years old, and having lived previously in Chile and Montana. She was part of an extensive family, and shared her life with many brothers and sisters following the early deaths of her mother, stepfather, stepmother, brothers and sisters. Subsequent remarriages allowed Jane to think of her family as more of a bush than a tree, and she loved them all. She graduated from Boulder High School in 1972, and met Chris Allison (a former BHS classmate) while attending Utah State University. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS temple in 1978. Jane's lifelong passion was in the study of nutrition and child development, which she happily practiced as a loving wife and mother for 36 years. Her career was just that - of being a mother - which she was able to do without working outside of the home. She made every family holiday a special occasion, and her family has many fond memories of Seattle, Spokane, Lake Powell, Snowbird, and other family vacations and reunions. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker and practiced her art with patience and skill. She loved Utah and its beautiful outdoors, where she could never spend enough time skiing and hiking with her family.
Jane is survived by her husband, Chris, their children Elizabeth VanLeeuwen, Molly Sparks (Scott), Chelsea Francis (David), Kirk Allison, Andrew Allison (Kelsee), and eight beautiful grandchildren: Benson, Statton, Lexi, Alli, Addi, Roxy, Boston, and Trevon. In addition, she leaves an enormous family who adore her.
Jane had the BRCA1 gene, and contracted breast and ovarian cancer in 2011. Through treatment she went into remission in 2012, where she hiked Snowbird, enjoyed the BHS 40th reunion, and the joys of her family. The disease returned with a vengeance in 2013 and the tug of war between Heaven and earth ended with her being able to greet loved ones on the other side of the veil on Sunday, April 27th.
The family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful and caring staff of the Huntsman Cancer Hospital; they made Jane's final life chapter a pleasant one and they hold a special place in our hearts. If desired, contributions may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, 2000 Circle of Hope, SLC, UT 84112.
