Thomas Becerra
1950-2014

Thomas Becerra, 64, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Thomas was born on September 3, 1950 in St. Joseph to the late Pablo and Marcelina (Gutierres) Becerra. He was a lifelong St. Joseph resident and graduate of Lafayette High School.
Mr. Becerra served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, from 1970-1972, where he was stationed in Germany. Thomas worked at Altec Industries for 15 years and had previously worked at Mead for 19 years.
Thomas was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on cars and in his garage, gardening, trips to the casino, deer and turkey watching and most of all his grandchildren.
Thomas married Judy Grossman on August 7, 1970, and she survives him of the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Patrick Becerra (Amy); daughter, Julie Becerra (Michael Mejia); grandchildren, Brodee and Brenzlee Becerra; Addison and Jacob Mejia; sisters, Lola Sprague (Mike) and Mary Wright; brothers, Charles (Kay), Stephen (Gerry), Paul (Linda) Becerra; two aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Becerra was preceded in death by brothers: Leo, Raymond and Robert Becerra, Octaviano Delgado and Leopoldo Lopez; and sisters, Benita Peters and Lena Gilkey.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Mary Catholic Church.
Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Friday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bobby Rocha Memorial Fund.
