George was born to Frederick and Esther Harris. He had an older brother Fred. The family lived in Long Beach until they moved to Westminster. George and Fred attended Huntington Beach High School.
After high school, George entered the Army Air Corp where he was assigned to the 403rd Troop Carrier Group, 13th Army Air Corp where he served 27 months in the South Pacific.
His group transported men & supplies to forward areas in the Solomon's & flew passenger & cargo routed to New Zealand, Australia, Fiji & New Caledonia. He moved personnel of the 13th AF units to the Southwest Pacific.
In 1954, George was hired by the Atlantic Richfield Oil Refinery in Wilmington, Ca. He retired after 30 years of employment. George was also an active member of the ARCO Credit Union where he was their treasurer.
After retirement, George & Lorraine traveled to a number of our states as well as internationally. They both had a great time attending art shows & being members of the Lakewood, Cerritos, & Cypress Art Associations where they had many friends. He also enjoyed playing a game or two of golf.
But most of all, being together and spending time with their family meant the most to them.
