Sarah Ann Atwood Strait or Straight was born about 1801 in New Jersey. Her Atwood family is unknown at this time but her father is thought to be John Atwood and her mother's name was Tabitha. Some time before 1821, Sarah's parents migrated to Muskingum County Ohio. It was there she met and married Silas Cole Strait on Oct 11, 1821.
Between 1850-1860 they migrated to Gallia Co. OH, settling in the Waterloo area near the Lawrence County, border. Her husband, Silas, died between 1860-1870 as Sarah appears as widowed in the 1870 and 1880 census living with her son Lewis Strait/Straight. Sarah died between 1880-1890. The place of burial in Ohio for Silas and Sarah Strait is unknown at this time.
