Son of Rev. Robert Melvin Wyatt and Ellen Pearlee Wheeler.
In 1910, he was living in Middle Fork, in Madison County, NC. In 1920, he was shown to be living on Poverty Branch in Barnardsville and was employed as a laborer when he was only 18 years of age and he was single. On November 30, 1926, he was pronounced dead at 12:45 P.M., by the Buncombe County Coroner. His autopsy revealed that the cause of death came from a gunshot wound that he had sustained in Barnardsville. His death was ruled as a Homicide.
Although his memorial was created correctly in the Greenwood Cemetery, at some point the memorial was moved into the Anders Cemetery in Barnardsville. This mistake was due to an error that was made on his Death Certificate, which stated that his burial would take place in the Anders Cemetery.
The erroneous interment at Anders Cemetery was discovered by the Big Ivy Historical Society, who transcribed and recorded the Ivy Township Cemeteries in 1985. Their survey of the Greenwood Cemetery revealed that Marion Wyatt was indeed buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Barnardsville, NC.
