Preacher, editor, and gospel songwriter died on Wednesday evening. He preached full time in Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Kentucky, and Indiana for churches of Christ. He spoke and led singing in religious services across the nation. He preached for 73 years and worked spreading the gospel until a few months before his final illness. He was born in southern Kentucky at Railton between Glasgow and Bowling Green on November 5, 1916. He served as an elder for many years for the High School Road church of Christ having formerly served as an elder at the Northern Kentucky church of Christ in Florence, Kentucky. He edited Faith and Facts Quarterly for 30 years. He was the author of several Bible commentaries and influential in all the major controversies in the Church of Christ in the 20th century. He is survived by his wife Louise, his son John, two daughters, Mary Hines and Martha McDaniel. He has 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Nadene Welch and Marie Johnson.
