Hosea Barnebee was born in Ohio on March 9, 1817. He lived in Mendon, Michigan for most of his life and was active in Mendon civic service. The first brick building in Mendon was built by Hosea Barnebee and William Pellett. Hosea was married to Harriet Pellett in 1851. He was a Village Trustee of Mendon for a time and was postmaster of Mendon. He was also a businessman in Mendon being a proprietor or partner of H. Barnebee & Co. a manufacturer of sash, doors, blinds and agricultural implements and the selling of lumber and engaged in the foundry business. Mr Barnebee died on January 17, 1875 in Mendon Michigan.
