Tommy Lewis Abercrombie, 90, died November 7, 2014, at the home he built outside of New Deal, Texas.

Tom was born July 5, 1924 in a covered wagon in Lubbock, Texas to Clarence Clifford and Katie Lewis Abercrombie.

He served his country honorably during World War II as a radio operator and sharpshooter. He earned four bronze stars and firmly believed serving his country was his duty. After the war, he entered the home construction business and the first home he built was for his beloved mother.

Tom established Abercrombie Lumber Co in 1955 retiring in 1986. Today the business continues under the care of his sons Tommy and Bryan.

Always on the go, Tom loved to fish, golf, play poker and was an excellent story teller. His greatest treasures were his wonderful six children. He gave each one their own special nickname.

He is survived by his wife Alicia and 6 children and their spouses, Angela Hightower and life companion Tony Hinojosa of Lubbock, Willard Abercrombie of Lubbock Juanita Keller and spouse Michael of Dallas, Texas, Tommy Abercrombie of Lubbock, Bryan Abercrombie and spouse Angie of New Deal and Elizabeth Horsman and spouse Jeff of Rowlett, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his sister Mary Lou Burnside and nephews, nieces and cousins.

His family will hold a private memorial service in his honor at a later date.
