Arizona Governor. He served as governor of Arizona from 1967 to 1978 and as a two term Mayor of Phoenix beginning in 1956. He lost an eye to cancer as a child earning him the nickname later in life as "One Eyed Jack." He also served as vice president of the Phoenix Housing Authority, president of the Phoenix Junior Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Phoenix City Council. Prior to joining city and state government he was a popular radio show host for station KOY in Phoenix.
