120809 Flying Office, Navigator/Bomber Derrick Isaac Jones of The Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Son of David John and Margaret Ann Jones of 7 Water Street, Carmarthen, Wales.

On 10th November 1942 Hudson AM680 took off from Silloth for a night cross country navigation exercise. The aircraft wes not flying high enough and it struck the ground near to the top of Beda Fell at Beda Head overlooking Ullswater.

Also killed in the crash was:

Pilot/Flight Sergeant John Frederick Sanders.
Sergeant, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner Stanley Alfred Veasey.
Sergeant, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner Harold Dickinson.
