Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 2, at the First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Eleanor Ruth Collier Ready Grantham was born to Rogers Benton Collier Sr. and Mary Ruth Martin on March 3, 1924 in Dothan.
Mrs. Grantham attended Dothan High School, Wallace College and Enterprise State Junior College. She was a civil service retiree, having worked for the Army at Finance and Accounting, at Fort Rucker. She was a member of Daughters of The Nile, American Association of Retired Persons, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Gideon Auxiliary, First Baptist Church of Level Plains, Retirees on Mission, Senior Friends and Mount Pleasant Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tom Grantham; her parents; daughter, Eleanor Clair Ready; sister, Mary Lou Collier; and brothers, Roger Benton Collier Jr. and James Lamar Collier Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ruth Grantham Bayhi; sons, General Clayton Ready III (Sarie) and Michael Wayne Ready Sr.; grandchildren, Melinda Ruth Ready Achman (Eric), Michael Wayne Ready Jr. (Alma), Joseph Daniel Ready (Claudia), Gina Leigh Ready, Amanda Ruth Bayhi and Ashley Maria White (Michael); great-grandchildren, Devin Corey Ready, Alexis Gabriell Howell, Mya Bailey Ready, Makayla Lynn Ready and Michael Wayne Ready III; sister, Sarah Collier of Montgomery; four sisters-in-law, Pauline Strickland, Zeita Hogan, Virginia Melton (Eddie Rushing) and Betty Jean Collier; and her aunt, Ressie Hnatt.
