Brother Crawford was born November 6, 1924 in Hedley, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II and a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge No. 404. He graduated from Wellington (Texas) High School with the Class of 1942, from Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson with a doctorate in theology and was an instructor there for many years.

Brother Crawford served as pastor of several Texas churches. His first church to pastor was Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson. He later pastored Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Overton, First Baptist Church in Arp, Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Denison, Carthage Missionary Baptist Church and Texas Baptist Church. He was the pastor of Longview Missionary Baptist Church for 28 years, until his retirement in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his brother, W.S. Crawford.
