Mary P. Wike, 82, of Charlotte died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Born September 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the Late John Walter Pelt and Alice Wilkes Pelt of Latta, SC and the wife of R.D. Wike who died December 3, 2010. Mrs. Wike graduated from Latta High School and King's Business College in Charlotte. She retired in 1997 after working 32 years as secretary to the sales manager at Union Carbide Corporation/Praxair Surface Technologies. Survivors include a son, Dr. Wayne Wike and wife, Debbie of Laurinburg, NC and a daughter, Bonnie Wike Bowen and husband, Gerald of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Wike Kriner and husband, Jonathan of St. Marys, GA, Joelle Wike Baysden and husband, Andrew Baysden of Charlotte, NC, Bryson Wike and wife, Amy of Charlotte, NC, Tyler Bowen of Chicago, IL; twin great-granddaughters, Ava and Bryce Kriner of St. Marys, GA. Also preceding her in death were a grandson, Wayne David Wike Jr., six brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services was held 2:00 pm Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Statesville Road Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Shields, Dr. Wayne Wike and Rev. Robert Shaw officiating. Friends visited 30 minutes prior to the services at the church. Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Park.
