HONESDALE — Gerda Chan, age 94, a resident of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, died Saturday, Oct. 25, following an illness.

Born Aug. 21, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ingrid Roseland. After spending many summers here, she moved here forty years ago. She had been a resident of both South Canaan and Hawley. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Gerda enjoyed playing board games and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters: Julia Cortright of Thomasville, NC, and Stephanie Wicksnes of Rowland, PA; one sister: Sylvia Parisella of Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Jones, in 2012.

Calling hours were Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Teeters’ Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral followed at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Rowland Cemetery, Rowland, PA.
