He was predeceased by his parents, John L. and Agnes (Stoll) Kearney, and three sisters, Claire Rodgers, Jean McIntire and Dolores Litzebauer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 ½ years, Carolyn (nee: Della Torre); two daughters, Nancy Kearney and Camille Retana; a son, Martin Patrick Kearney Jr. and his husband Jeff Auer; and a grandson, Victor Retana; as well as loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was a founding parishioner and active member of St. John Vianney's Roman Catholic Church in Colonia, where he also served as an usher. He was also an avid camper, fisherman, road tripper, and volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 15 years, as well as the American Red Cross. He was a member of the St. John Vianney Senior Citizens Club, the Colonia Senior Citizens Club and AARP Chapter 3459. Martin will always be remembered for his dedicated volunteerism, generosity, sense of humor and dedication to his faith, family and Irish heritage.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 18th at St. John Vianney's RC Church, Colonia. All to meet at church. Entombment to follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison.
