John Wesley Hickman passed away Sunday, September 27, 1953 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was 87.

He was born in Delaware County, on September 14, 1866 but lived most of his life in Shelby County as a farmer.

He was one of five children, born to the late William and Martha (Means) Hickman.

John married Laura Belle Morgan Feb. 1, 1893 in Shelby Co., Indiana.

They were the parents of:
Seven daughters and four sons: Elsie, Nina, Maggia, Bertha, Anna, Goldie, Cora, and Harry, John Henry, Charles and Paul Hickman

Mr. Hickman had 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Boles of Hartford City, Indiana.

He later married Elmira Smith-Perry on Sept. 22, 1926 in Shelby Co., Indiana.

She is laid to rest with her first husband, Thomas C. Perry in Cunningham Cemetery, New Palestine, IN

He had resided with his daughter, Elsie Ross at Pleasant View, for some time.

Services were held Wednesday, September 29th, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
