Carole L. Lueders, 80, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center North surrounded by her loving family following a courageous and hard-fought two-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary casket bearers will be her great-grandchildren.

Carole was born July 2, 1936, in the doctors car on the way to the hospital in Clinton, the youngest child of George and Clara (Stenzel) Schroeder. She graduated from Clinton High School and attended Mount Saint Clare College. She married Robert Bob Lueders on June 17, 1956, in Clinton. Bob passed away on Oct. 13, 1996. Carole retired from Clinton Community Schools. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Caroles greatest joy was her family. Her life revolved around them. She loved following her children and grandchildrens school and sporting activities ofwhich there were many over the years. Carole had a sassy sense of humor that was evident to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed going to the YWCA, lunching with the Lyons group and her close friends, Shirley, Randa, and Judy. She could often be seen driving her Mustang convertible around town. She never missed "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor/ette" and the Cubs. She and her husband, Bob, loved to dance and could clear the dance floor. She devotedly served as the team mom for Bobs Clinton High School wrestling team, helping behind the scenes in whatever role necessary for 40 years.

Carole is survived by five children;Jeffrey(Melody)Lueders of Evergreen, Colorado, Kristin (Robert) Schneeberger of Clinton, Kelley(Jim) Hummel of Long Grove, J.D.(Kim) Lueders of Clinton, and Kasey(Eric) Jennings of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, Lars(McKenzie), Chelsey(Brandon), Kellen, Marcus(Nicole), Dylan(Maddy), Karly, Savanah, ERic (Amy), Jared,Cole(Jackie), Spencer(Bri), Luke,Brady and Piper; nine great grandchildren,London, Tripp, Miles, Holden,Caitlin, Megan, Owen, Quincey and Alvia; a brother, Rodney(Chick) Schroeder of Sarasota, Florida; and a sister-in-law,Phyllis(Randy) Meinert of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Trey; four brothers, Clifford, Wesley, Gordon and Orlin, a sister, Arlene.
