They died from the inhalation of smoke and poison gases that were being given off from burning fur in the basement of Kakas Furs, 70-72 Chauncy Street, Box 1463.* at 1707 hours (Chauncy Street and Rowe Place) Hoseman Barnard had 4 years and Hoseman Cady had 10 months of service.This was a one alarm fire.
Lieutenant James F. Flahive, 67* Rescue 1
Died on March 6, 1974 after never regaining consciousness from the effects of the poison gas and smoke that he received here.

The son of James Thomas Cady and Catherine C. Flaherty, both born in Ireland.
The husband of Mary Donnelly whom he married in 1945 in Boston. Patrick and Mary were expecting a baby in January.
