John Huyler Acheson II, 72, of Indianapolis, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on October 16, 2014, with his loving wife and family at his side.

John was born September 28, 1942, the beloved son of Patricia Jameson Acheson and Cornell "Duke" Woolley Acheson. He attended The Orchard Country Day School, graduated from the Culver Military Academy, and earned a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree from Indiana University.

He proudly served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps, twice received The Purple Heart¸ and remained life-long friends with many who served with him. He was a strong and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over four decades, and was a mentor to many in need.

John was a realtor with Landrigan & Company, a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Indiana Association of Realtors and MIBOR. He was also a member of The University Club, The Dramatic Club of Indianapolis and The Indiana Society of Pioneers. John fox hunted with the Traders Point Hunt Club for many years. His passion for horses, sense of humor, bravery and wonderful, giving heart will be truly missed.

John is survived by his cherished wife of 35 years, Becky Beasley Acheson; daughter, Stacia Stark Schoeneman and her husband Bill Schoeneman; son, Matthew Stark; grandsons, mother, Patricia (Patty) Jameson Cochran; brother, Donald Jameson Acheson, and his wife Clare Fox Acheson; nine first cousins; four nieces; two nephews; four great nephews; two great nieces; and one great-grand niece, as well as so many beloved friends and associates. He was proud to have made Booth Tarkington a great-grand uncle upon his birth.
