Belin Powell was born in Camden, NJ. His parents were Edward Smith and Jane Ann Beideman Powell of Camden, NJ. He married Mary Ann Hullings on 28 JUN 1866. They had 15 children. Belin was a farmer in Camden. On June 16,1900 he bought the 26 acre farm for $40,00 in Cape May Courthouse. His house (605 Rt 9)and some of the property (known as the Thomas BeesleyJr. house) was bought by the Cape May Courthouse Zoo in 1992. The house is used as offices.
