Brandy was almost twelve years old when her life was cut so short. She attended West Central Elementary School. She is the Daughter of Sharon Thomas Busby and Terry Busby. She has a sister Victoria Lynn Busby, a stepsister Nicki Busby and two stepbrothers Andy and Jamie Busby.

She loved to read and always had a book stowed away somewhere that she would pull out when she had a chance. She was a very smart child. If there was a task that needed to be done she would always volunteer. Teachers and administrators remember her as helpful and kind-hearted.

Brandy died trying to save her great-grandfather from a burning house. Rome firefighters said when occupants of the house discovered the fire, which apparently started near an electrical outlet in the kitchen, Brandy helped her great-grandmother, Edna Wilson, 67, and stepsister, Nicki Busby, also 11, out of the home then returned to awaken her sleeping great-grandfather. The two victims were overcome by smoke. What a Hero she was!

I never got to meet Brandy but I work with her Mom and she is a very special lady. She carries a newspaper article in her billfold of Brandy and I know not a day goes by that she doesn't miss her and long to see her again. I'm sure Brandy had a personality like her Mom because they both are special people. I am thankful that I've had a chance to know such a wonderful lady.
