The Rev. Eilert C. Nielsen, 91, Ruthton, Minn., died Wednesday at the Ruthton Nursing Home.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Clinton with the Rev. Eugene S. Henry officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home Clinton Chapel.

Casketbearers and honorary pallbearers are Larry May, Glenn A. Petersen, Dr. A.C. Bloom, George C. Clausen, Wayne Wilke, Irwin Giss, Jack Koop, Ed Knop, John Nielsen and Eugene Andersen.

Rev. Nielsen was born Feb. 1, 1895, in Chicago to Nels and Jensine Thomsen Nielsen. He married Edna Sandberg May 12, 1920, in Maywood, Ill. She died in 1973.

Rev. Nielsen attended public schools in Chicago and was ordained a Lutheran minister on June 6, 1920. He served in Chicago, Kansas and Minnesota before coming to Clinton in 1950. He served as pastor of St. Stephen Lutheran Church until 1970. He served as visitation pastor at Zion Lutheran Church during the twilight of his 65 years of ministry.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Murial) Payson of Racine, Wis., Mrs. Norman J. (Valerie) Petersen of Ruthton, Minn., and Beverly J. Nielsen of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. E. (Margret) Smith of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his wife, six sisters and two brothers.
