Ralph E. Bachman, age 69, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Bachman was a construction worker for Local #81 retiring in 1987; he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ralph was a former bowler at the Westchester Lanes Friday Night League. He enjoyed doing crafts and was an avid camper. Ralph was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from January 1955 through January 1964. He was born in Hebron, Indiana on June 3, 1936 to the late Edward Bachman and Alice Comer. He married Jacqueline L. Charlson on February 22, 1957 in Porter, IN, who preceded him in death on May 14, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Charles E. (Renee) Bachman of Grand Ridge, IL, Harold (Jowanna) Bachman of Lilly, KY, Kevin (Sandra) Bachman of Portage, IN, and Kenneth "Fats" (Jennifer) Bachman of Valparaiso, IN; daughters, Brenda (Jack) Darnell of Porter, IN, Kimberly (Robert) Collina of Havelock, N.C., and Jennifer (William) Gross of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Wayne (Dorothy) Bachman of Chesterton, IN; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lynette (Stephen) Rohe of Porter, IN; brothers-in-law, Carl Charlson of Chesterton, IN, and John (Pat) Charlson of Chesterton, IN; He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and Kenneth and father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Myrtle Charlson. Funeral services will be held n Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN with Rev. Erich Fickel officiating. Entombment in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 from 2-8 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the V.N.A. Hospice of Porter County.
