Evelyn Winter passed away on 16 February 2015 at Brakeley Care Center in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. She was 98 years old.

She was born Evelyn Emma Osmun on 10 October 1916, in Delaware, Warren County, New Jersey, to the late Orton Osmun and the late Edith Mae Kostenbader Osmun.

They moved to Hampton, New Jersey when she was quite young. Her parents separated and her mother raised Evelyn and her three siblings, Arnold, Thelma, and Vivian, in Hampton.

Evelyn attended Hampton Elementary and High School, graduating from both. She was an excellent student and loved playing basketball.

She married the love of her life, Henry R. Winter, on 18 December 1935 in Manhattan, New York. To this marriage, four children were born: Joan M., Dianne F., Susan C., and Jean L. Winter.

Evelyn and Henry lived in four different homes in the town of Hampton with their last home being one they built together, off Charlestown Road in Lloyd Hackett's apple orchard, with the help of their dear friend, Jack Gnau.

She was a lifelong member of the Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church. She love her Lord and taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed hiking and camping trips with "her kids."

Evelyn spent much of her life teaching the youth of Hampton about God through the annual Bible Schools held at her home. She loved all her grandchildren dearly and entertained her two grandchildren from Texas many summers.

She was active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hampton Fire Department. She worked in the North Hunterdon High School cafeteria for several years.

She spent a number of years at Brakeley Park Center in Phillipsburg, NJ, first in the assisted living area and then the full care floor.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry R Winter; a daughter, Susan Winter Harris; her mother, Edith Kostenbader Osmun; her siblings, Arnold Osmun, Thelma Osmun Nixon, and Vivian Osmun Kiley; and grandson, John Bowles.

Surviving Evelyn are her daughters, Joan Randolph of Sunland, CA, Dianne Winter of Hewitt, TX, and Jean Winter of Cortland, NY; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bowles and wife, Annette, of Arlington, VA, Alison Bowles of NYC, NY, Jennifer Bowles of Sacramento, CA, Daniel Bowles of Canada, Wade Morrow and wife, Trina, and Wendy Morrow, all of Hewitt, TX; great-grandchildren, Matthew Bowles, Jason Ballmann, Candice Morrow, Caitlynn Morrow, Cody Morrow, Austin Marlowe, and Alaina Morrow; and several loving nieces and nephews and countless friends.

A very special "thank you" to the entire staff at Brakeley Care Center who have cared for our mother over these many years. The care she received was done in a loving and kind manner, and we know that our mother truly felt she was loved.

And lastly, a most loving "thank you" to Steve Zdepski, who cared for our mother unerringly over the many years as her executor. He is a brother that we acquired along the way and we are ever so grateful to him for his love for our mother.

NOTE: Mom's memorial service was held graveside on August 1, 2015, at 10 am with family and friends attending. Many fond memories shared by all. Unforgettable time!!
