Mary Lee (Redmon) Konkright, age 74, from Vancouver, Washington, died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at home. She was surrounded by family after an extended illness.
Mary was born on January 3, 1940 in Portland, Oregon. She attended Peninsula Elementary School and graduated from Roosevelt High School at age 17, both in Portland, Oregon. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She attended one year at Brigham Young University in Utah.
Mary married Robert Konkright. She took joy in her two children, Laurie and Max.
Mary taught for 33 years at Sitton Elementary School. Mary was the center of any social group and "the life of the party." She was known for her humor. Mary participated in a monthly Book Club, a monthly Roosevelt High School luncheon in Portland, Oregon, and was a strong Democrat. She loved to go to the beach and "scrapbook" with family. Mary studied her genealogy, was a voracious reader, and loved to shop.
She was a member of the Ridgefield Ward of the LDS Church in Ridgefield, Washington.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Leon Konkright; her son, Max Konkright, his wife, Camie Konkright; her daughter, Laurie Ellett; and her sister, Nancy Baldwin. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Grace Redmon.
Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 21718 NE 29th Avenue, Ridgefield, WA 98642 on Friday, October 3, 2014. Graveside services were at Northwood Park Cemetery in Ridgefield, Washington.
