Mary R. Adams was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Springfield, Tenn., a daughter of Jessie and Ruth Dean Adams.

Mary married Ralph Schmidt, and they became the parents of a daughter and two sons.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Pittsburgh Opera until her retirement.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Aspinwall United Methodist Church. She was a resident of Aspinwall for 60 years.

At the age of 81, Mary R. Schmidt, of Aspinwall died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at her home.

She was predeceased by her parents.

She was survived by her husband Ralph E. Schmidt of Aspinwall; a daughter, Linda S. Chandler of Aspinwall; two sons Edward R. Schmidt Sr. of Aspinwall and Charles R. Schmidt of Fort Mill, S.C.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dr. Jack Adams of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Edward Adams of Fort Meyers, Fla.
