Ethel Ashton Hodge, 89, of 1025 Pearl St, Martins Ferry, died Friday at East Ohio Regional Hospital. She was born July 28, 1900 in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late Chester and Mary Belle DeVault Ashton.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past president of the Golden Link Philatheas, Women's Club of Wheeling, Women's Auxiliary of Wheeling Symphony Society, Martins Ferry 65 Club, Martins Ferry Garden Club, Lady Elks Lodge #895, Business and Professional Women's Club, Martins Ferry Historical Society, Women's Club of Martins Ferry, American Legion Auxiliary Post #38, and Willow Twig of Martins Ferry Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Hodge; two brothers, Lester and Robert Ashton; one sister, Mrs. Marian Conkle.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. James R. Hodge of Akron, Dr. Thomas A. Hodge of San Jose, Calif., and Judge Richard A. Hodge of Berkeley, Calif.; one sister, Mrs Walter (Nell) Schane of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Heslop Funeral Home, Martins Ferry, in charge of arrangements.
