Robert was the son of Robert Carl Beverly and the late Clara Nettles Beverly. He was a 1988 graduate of Walterboro High School where he served as drum major for The Band of Blue. He was a member of the SC National Guard. He attended Tabor United Methodist Church. Pallbearers of his funeral were Brady Couch, Jeff Shuman, Bill Young, Greg Maggi, Floyd Wendell Webster (10-1-2005), and James Farrell.
