LANETT -- Mrs. Gladys Smith Akins, 87, of Lanett, formerly of Opelika, Ala., died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at Beverly Health Care in Lanett.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. (CST) at Frederick's Funeral Home Chapel in Opelika with the Rev. Wayne Greathouse officiating. Burial followed in Rosemere Cemetery.
Mrs. Akins is survived by her son, Jesse A. (Rosina) Akins Jr. of Cinnaminson, N.J.; her brother, Guy (Resa) Smith of Opelika; her sister, Mazie Irvin of Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
Born July 17, 1913 in Tallapoosa County, Ala., Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse A. Akins Sr.
