Dorotea "Dorie" R. Benitez Steenson, 80, of Crossett, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Crossett. Born September 22, 1925, in Cavite City, Philippines, the daughter of Angel and Milagros Reyes Benitez, she was a homemaker and member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Steenson was an avid bowler and member of various bowling leagues and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ashley County Medical Center Auxiliary.Mrs. Steenson is survived by her husband, Clayton Steenson, of Crossett; one daughter, Lucy Dean of Crossett; three sons, Capt. Loren Steenson, of Iraq, Dr. Larry Steenson, of Kansas City, KS, and Louis Steenson of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Bayani Benitez, of Waipahu, HI; three sisters, Esperanza Benitez, of San Diego, CA, and Cleotilde and Leonida Benitez, both of Cavite City, Philippines; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in the Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bonnie Milligan officiating.
