Funeral services for Gary Wayne Alexander, age 58, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday June 20, 2011 at East Union Baptist Church with Dr. John Farrar and Dr. Edgar Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Bluff Cemetery with Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Alexander died June 17, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Madison County, TN, the son of the late James Robert and Alpha Blakely Alexander and was educated in the county schools. Mr. Alexander was a water foreman for Jackson Energy Authority. Gary was dedicated to his job and enjoyed being surrounded by the outdoors. He was an avid fan and coveted restoring and just being around farm tractors.

Gary had a very giving nature about him always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.

A special thanks to the Caris Hospice Nurses Kristi and Lisa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hart; brother, J.R. Alexander.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Mrs. Deborah Butner Alexander; daughter, Jamie Newland and husband Clint; son, Blake Alexander; the joy of his life granddaughter, Addison Newland; brother, Roy Alexander and wife Lois all of Jackson; father and mother-in-law, David and Evelyn Butner of Maury City, TN; brother-in-law, Tommy Butner and wife Rhonda and their three children Scarlett, Tyler-Moss and Konnor all of Maury City, TN; and all nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers to serve are Eddie Kiestler, Brandon Smith, Keith Williams, Garey Cupples, Mike Stegall and Frank Cantrell.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 til 8 p.m., Sunday at East Union Baptist Church and from 1 p.m. until service time Monday also at the church.
