New Zealand mountaineer Gary Ball was a man who pioneered guided tours of Mount Everest.

Gary died of altitude sickness on a Himalayan mountain.

Before his death he was co-owner, along with Rob Hall, of 'Adventure Consultants' in New Zealand.
'Ball Peak' is a mountain named by the New Zealand Geographic Board after Gary Ball. It is 1,700 meters (5,600 ft) tall and located at the head of Loftus Glacier in the Asgard Range, Victoria Land, Antarctic.
