ORMOND BEACH-Edward Hammett, 74, of Sanchez Avenue, an auto mechanic for Jon Hall Chevrolet for 25 years before his retirement, died Saturday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Hammett, an Army veteran, came here in 1965 from his native Paterson, N.J. He enjoyed stock car racing, football, and working on cars.

Survivors include his companion, Barbara Cross; two daughters Debbie Warren, Zephyrhills, and Vicki Duma, Middleton, Ohio; a brother Roy, Cape Canaveral; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Fl 32129. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.
