SEAFORD — Donald Ray "Don" Carney of Seaford died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in his home. He was 80.

Mr. Carney was born in Johnstown, Pa., son of the late Charles and Dora Carney.

He worked in poultry processing equipment sales for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, and witnessed the raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima.

He enjoyed fellowship in Seaford Christian Academy and supported all school activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He loved his dogs, especially Cody.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Seaford and a 50-year member of Johnstown Masonic Lodge 538.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clarice Daughenbaugh.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fay Carney; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Denise Carney of Jupiter, Fla.; two granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Melanie and Delano Hicks of Jupiter and Sarah and Brian Wagner of Ty Ty, Ga.; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Hicks; and a brother, Galen W. Carney of Johnstown.

Services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday in First Baptist Church, 543 N. Bradford St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour and a half earlier.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Seaford Christian Academy, 110 Holly St., Seaford, DE 19973; or the Tunnell Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
