Mary Moore Childrey, 95, of Reidsville, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday November 20, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living of Reidsville.

A native of Halifax County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Walter James and Susie Farmer Moore and had lived in Reidsville since 1964. She graduated from Bartlett-Yancey High School in Yanceyville, NC in 1938 and retired from Saunders Hardware in Reidsville.

Being married to an Air Force Master Sergeant, Mary lived in Heacham, England; Buckroe Beach, Virginia; Oscoda, Michigan; and Bossier City, Louisiana. An active member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and also was active in WMU, Pastoral Care and member of the Joy Singers. A faithful member of Reidsville Chapter # 380 Order of the Eastern Star, she also enjoyed traveling to the beach and mountains and working in her yard. She loved sharing her time with people and helping those who were in need.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: Charlie Mack Childrey, and her son: Ronald Edwin Childrey.

She is survived by her son: Louis A. Childrey and wife Susan of Eden, NC, her daughter: Carol C. Phillips and husband Ron of Kernersville, NC, a granddaughter: Lauren C. Cherry and husband Brittain of Mt. Pleasant, SC, great grandchildren: Hays and Olivia Cherry of Mt. Pleasant, SC and a brother-in-law: Sam Childrey of Reidsville, NC. Mary leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins from Reidsville, NC and throughout Virginia.
