June Maxine (Markley) Hanneman was born to Ernest and Jennie Markley on June 15, 1925, in Lincoln, Kansas. She attended school there and tought for some time during WWII. She married Elmer Hanneman on September 20, 1942, and accompanied him whenever possible during his years in the Air Force.
In the 1950's June and Elmer were a part of the last homestead program in the United States when they moved to Idaho, and along with other veterans, made homes appear from a virgin sagebrush-covered land.
June enjoyed many types of activities. After moving with her family to Denver City,Texas in 1963, she became active in Women's Bowling Assn.,serving as its president for some years. She played on the women's softball team and loved to pitch horseshoes.
Writting poetry was her lifelong hobby. She has had some of her wotk published and has assembled a book of her poetry for her family
She bacame one of the dozen family piolets, getting her licence in 1964. She helped ferry planes from place to place when needed in the family aerial spraying business which covered a four state area.
June and Elmer were very active in their church throughout the years.
Elmer preceded June in death on Jan. 2, 2009. One grandson was killed in a plane crash in 2007.
